Lincoln and Washington have days. So do mothers and fathers. Hell, even trees have a day. Then why don’t employees have a day?

When the Ovative team sees a need, we don’t just talk about it – we solve it! So we put our ideas into action and created Shenanigan’s Day! On December 9th, we will be celebrating our 8^th Annual Shenanigans Day, a work day filled with more fun than you can ever imagine having at work! If you’re a business that doesn’t take itself too seriously, you’ll be celebrating it, too.

Shenanigan’s Day is a day of Having Fun at Work and Giving Back.

WHAT DO YOU DO ON SHENANIGANS DAY?

What don’t you do on Shenanigans Day? Whatever your definition of fun is can be had on this glorious occasion. Here are a few ideas to get your neurons firing.

Shave your coworker’s head, have a lip sync competition, race around the office on hoverboards, fight gladiator-style in an inflatable ring, drink suspicious homemade moonshine, play flip cup, get a photo booth, hop on a party bus… the possibilities are endless.

Get together with your coworkers and dream up the funnest day at work you’ve ever imagined. Then do it.

So how did this day of magic and wonderment come about?

A long, LONG time ago – ok 13 years, but that’s a looong time in the everchanging digital world we live in! – our fearless leader Dale Nitschke started Ovative group. His goal was to create a company based on working hard and playing hard. Our team works tirelessly to “Raise the F***king Bar” (aka RTFB) and drive amazing results for our clients day in and day out. But fun and comradery are equally important to our culture and our success. And RTFB doesn’t only apply to work. 5 years ago Dale decided it was time to Raise the Bar on Employee fun – he came in on a Friday morning in December of 2015, told everyone to cancel their meetings and close their computers, and announced that the day would be focused on 1 thing only: fun!

Thus, the first Shenanigan’s Day was born.

And as we do here at Ovative, we’ve continued to Raise the Bar. Every. Single. Year. (the bar is getting pretty high guys!)

The Outrageously Fun Client Holiday Gift

WHAT IS SHENANIBOX?

You may have heard whispers of something called a Shenanibox. But what exactly is it?

Well, you see, how could we possibly celebrate Shenanigans Day, a holiday specifically dedicated to celebrating employees, without sharing the shenanigans with our hardworking clients and friends?

We thought long and hard about how to get as many clients and friends partaking in Shenanigans Day as possible. We couldn’t possibly convince all of them to come to Minneapolis in Winter, so how could we bring Shenanigans Day to them? Then it smacked us right across the face.

Rather than sending holiday food baskets, candles, swag items, and other slightly boring things… no offense. What if instead, we sent a Shenanigans Day box?? The Shenanibox. And the rest is history.

WHO DESIGNS THE SHENANIBOX?

The box creation is an extremely delicate and deliberate process.

A team of analysts coordinate for the months leading up to Shenanigans Day to plan conceptual theme, box design, what gifts should be included, shenanigan activities, internal and external marketing, and delivery of the final package.

The result? A Shenanibox, full of shenanigans and gifts for our hardworking clients.

THE GAME BOX

Shenanigans are a major part of a typical Ovative employee’s day-to-day life. Whether it is shuffleboard, ping pong, or darts – these stress relievers are essential to our daily motivation to succeed. (Hard hitting facts on the matter.) So, for our 2015 Shenanibox, we spread the ability to have daily shenanigans to our hard-working employees with a box full of games they could use throughout the year.

2016-Shenanibox II:

THE PUZZLE BOX

Our clients participated in our Shenanigans as superheroes saving the day from the evil Nale Ditchke. Their timed endeavor promoted friendly competition and team bonding as they solved various riddles, puzzles and more to open the treasure chest and save Shenanigans Day!
